Ghana’s former president and NDC’s 2020 flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama, is set to begin his nationwide ‘thank you’ today, Tuesday, August 17, 2021, across all the sixteen (16) administrative regions in the country.
The rationale of the tour is to thank the teeming number of Ghanaian voters who came out in their numbers to cast their ballots in favour of the National Democratic Congress, during the December 7 general election which took place some eight months ago.
During the journey, the former President, John Dramani Mahama will be accompanied by the former Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, as well as other functionaries, including National Executive Members of the National Democratic Congress.
It is expected that during this first phase, the former President will use the opportunity to interact with the leadership of the party in all the outlined regions, while engaging with community leaders, chiefs, traditional rulers and local indigenes within the various regions who massively supported the NDC at the 2020 polls.
John Dramani Mahama will also touch base with the grassroot of the NDC who zealously devoted their energies to the cause of the party in their various localities before, during and after the December 7 presidential and parliamentary elections last year. The President will also engage the press in this one-week nationwide exercise.
The scheduled tour will begin from the Upper East Regional capital, Bolgatanga, after which the President and his entourage will then proceed to Walewale in the North East Region, and finally Tamale in the Northern Region of Ghana.
The first phase of the former President’s ‘thank you’ tour will come to end on Monday, 23rd August, 2021.
